"The doors in Bosnia and Herzegovina are open to the Islamic republic of Iran and we will never forget your (Iranian) help, that is why we are now in Iran to expand our relations" Belkic said, addressing a conference on 'The West Balkans: Challenges in Accession to EU' held at the Iranian Foreign Ministry's Institute for Political and International Studies here in Tehran on Wednesday.
Regarding Bosnia's tendency for EU membership despite massive aids extended to the country by the Muslim nations during the war, Belkic said, "I thank the Islamic states for their helps during the war… Bosnia is in Europe and we don't have any other alternative except for European Union (membership)."
Elsewhere, he reminded existing differences among 27-nation block over accession of Bosnia to EU, and said the country is negotiating about concession.
He called economic collapse of Balkans after the war, reiterating that Balkan states are trying to determine their fate and establish convergence within the region.
Belkic, heading a high-ranking political and parliamentary delegation, arrived in Tehran on Monday at an invitation by Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani.
During his stay in Tehran, the Bosnian official met with a number of senior Iranian officials to discuss bilateral ties and cooperation and exchange views on regional and international issues.
