IRGC Warns West against Interference in Iran's Internal Affairs

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) on Monday warned western states, specially the US, Britain and Israel, against interfering in Iran's internal affairs and extending support to vandals and rioters.

"The bullying powers had better be concerned about their own countries' internal affairs and also their fragile situation in the occupied countries, specially in the Middle-East," IRGC announced in a statement released on Monday, denouncing the recent stances adopted by arrogant states, mainly the US, Britain and the Zionist regime of Israel, on Iran's post-election unrests.

The IRGC also underlined that the Iranian nation will guard the achievements of the country's 10th presidential election held on June 12, which led to the reelection of incumbent President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

The statement also condemned animosity and hostility of the world arrogance towards the Islamic Revolution and Iranian people, and condemned the "devilish scenarios" devised by the enemies to sow discord among the Iranian people through supporting and guiding unrest and violence and interference in the country's internal affairs.

On Sunday, Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki strongly criticized "interfering remarks" by foreign countries presidential election in Iran.

Speaking in a meeting with the foreign countries' diplomatic corps in Tehran, Mottaki blamed Britain for interfering in Iran's presidential election, saying that London had "targeted elections" in Iran for more than a year.

"We witnessed an influx of people from the UK ahead of the election," he said, without offering specifics.

Mottaki also criticized France and Germany's stance on Iran's recent developments.

Also on Saturday, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hassan Qashqavi accused the US and British media for stirring, guiding and commanding post-election unrests in Iran.

"Voice of America (VOA) and the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) are state-run channels owned by the US and Britain and not privately-run. Their budgets are approved in the US Congress, as well as the British Parliament. They are tribunes of their countries' diplomacy," Qashqavi said.

"The television channels serve as war room and commanding post of the ongoing riots," Qashqavi reiterated.

He further underlined that VOA and BBC consider stirring ethnic discords across Iran and also disintegrating the country as their two main strategies.
Meantime, reports said on Monday that Iranian security forces have identified and arrested 5 European spies during the Saturday unrests in Tehran.

"According to the dispatched reports, two German, one British and two French spies have been arrested during the unrests in Tehran on Saturday," the Persian-language daily, Javan, reported on Monday without mentioning specific details.

The report also indicated that several main elements behind the Saturday unrests have been detained, among them criminals who have killed several citizens during the clashes.
