Iran Ready to Transfer Judicial Experiences to Belarus

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi called for expansion of judicial cooperation between Iran and Belarus, and voiced Tehran's preparedness to transfer its legal and judicial experiences to Minsk.

Speaking in a meeting with Speaker of the Upper House of the Belarusian Parliament Barys Batura here on Tuesday, Shahroudi described the structure of Belarusian legal and judicial system as proper.

As regards mutual economic cooperation, he called on the two sides to exploit their available economic potentials, saying that the measure would serve the interests of both Tehran and Minsk.

Elsewhere, Shahroudi called for bolstering cooperation and activity by the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) member countries, and stressed the need for the establishment of a legal and judicial organization within the grouping.

During the meeting, Batura underlined the necessity for the expansion of ties between the two countries, and welcomed Iran's proposal for the establishment of a judicial body within NAM.

Shahroudi visited Belarus in May in which he signed two documents for promotion of bilateral cooperation.

Ways to fight terrorism and discrimination as well as formation of a joint legal organization for members of the Non-Aligned Movement were among major topics discussed by the Iranian and Belarusian officials during Shahroudi's recent visit to Minsk.
