Commander Hails Iran's Geographic Advantages for Asymmetric War

TEHRAN (FNA)- Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Ground Force Brig. Gen. Mohammad Pakpour Thursday said that Iran enjoys geographic and political advantages that would give the country an upper hand in any potential asymmetric war.

Addressing a gathering of IRGC battalion commanders here in Tehran, Pakpour elaborated on the IRGC doctrine for wars of asymmetry, and underlined IRGC and Basij (volunteer forces) operational preparedness.

"We can use all the available military equipment and tools in any (possible) asymmetric war through creativity, initiative and employing new methods," he added.

Pakpour also reiterated that Iran should plan for encountering enemies in accordance with their threats to the country, reminding that Iran believes the form of future threats to the country is different from those posed to the Islamic Republic during the 8-year Iraqi imposed war.

"We should redefine methods for utilizing weapons in accordance with the type of the combat," he stressed.

The Iranian General noted that the IRGC and Basij are ready to enter any warfront to defend the country as they have done all throughout the last 30 years.

He urged the forces of IRGC and Basij to keep vigilant and prepare themselves for any possible condition and reinvigorate their capabilities.
