President Warns Nations about Zionists' Media Plot to Destruct Culture

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called on the nations of the world to be vigilant about Zionists' plots to destruct their identity and culture through media.

"The media affiliated to the Zionists do not disseminate news of progress of nations and move in line with destruction of cultures in a bid to eliminate identities of the nations," Ahmadinejad said, addressing participants in the 31st Executive Board Meeting of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) here in Tehran on Sunday evening.

Ahmadinejad also lambasted one-sided approach by the media influenced by the arrogant powers to certain issues such as war against terrorism, the issue of Gaza and opposition to the production and expansion of weapons of mass destruction.

The president also expressed the hope that the media of Asia and Pacific region would overcome those of the Zionists and the arrogance within the next few years.

Ahmadinejad underlined the necessity for solidarity among the media of Asia and Pacific region, and asked them to circulate message of friendship, peace and brotherhood of all nations throughout the world.

President Ahmadinejad further called for dissemination of correct and accurate news and information.

Media representatives from India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Azerbaijan, Japan, Russia, Mongolia, Turkey, China, Vietnam, South Korea, Thailand, Kuwait and Afghanistan participated in the daylong OANA meeting in Tehran on Sunday.

OANA is an association of news agencies from UNESCO (the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) member states in the Asia-Pacific region. It was formed in 1961 on UNESCO's initiative.
